It starts with a dream; the imagined visualization of what the progeny of two beloved terriers would look like, how it would act, and if it would be *great*.
Every breeder hopes for greatness and works tirelessly through the generations to improve upon desired traits and reduce those less desired. While we always look toward the future and ways to improve our breeding program, we cannot forget the terriers who laid the foundation which we will continue to build upon. We cry tears of joy when a puppy exhibits traits of a long-beloved ancestor and are thankful for that continued genetic link. What was once loved will always be loved, and this page is our tribute to the special terriers who started it all for us.
Simon was a strong and handsome terrier and our first JRTCA-registered dog. We purchased him primarily as a pet and companion for our elderly JRT, but as he matured nicely and with the blessing of his breeder, we started to show in conformation. Simon had many championships and reserves in the ring (including a Reserve Champion Open Terrier and Best Foreign Bred Terrier at the JRTCC National Trial under esteemed terrier judge David Jones) but his outstanding temperament is what we loved the most about him. He was a sensitive, kind, and sweet boy who has passed those wonderful qualities down to his offspring. Tragically, Simon is no longer with us but we are so thankful his legacy will continue on.
Sea Dog Calypso DOB: 12/06/08, 12", Broken Coat PLL Carrier / SCA / DM / Dilute / BAER Normal
Calypso is our first JRTCA-registered bitch and the dam of our first litter. She is the reigning queen of the castle here at Raven Wolf, constantly entertaining us with her bossy demands and adorable antics. She is incredibly intelligent, social, and absolutely adores children and people of all ages. Calypso has modeled for the Pet Edge company and featured in a few other local ads. A true diva! Calypso has many conformation wins, including a win at the JRTCA National Trial under judge Michelle Ward.
Little Eden Gwen DOB: 6/1/11, 12.5", Smooth Coat PLL / SCA / DM / BAER / CERF Normal, Dilute Carrier
Although not the dam of our first litter, Gwen holds the prestigious title of our 'foundation bitch.' We still cannot believe our good luck that our wonderful friend Michelle Ward chose to share Gwen with us! Gwen had an impressive show career, including a Best Open Terrier win, several other Best / Reserve wins, and 4-6 month Reserve Best Puppy win at the JRTCA National Trial. Gwen has brought forth so many valuable attributes to our breeding program including correct angulation and an outstanding "easy to live with" temperament. Gwen's outstanding pedigree and subsequent progeny are the result of Michelle's tireless efforts to create an overall balanced terrier with a ideal temperament. We are blessed to continue the work Michelle has done with Gwen's progeny! Although retired now, Gwen will remain with us for the rest of her life. She has important duties around the farm - mousing, sleeping in the sun, and teaching the puppies how to be the perfect terrier! In the years to come, we will start a "Legacy" page for Gwen to showcase her positive influence on our breeding program.
Raven Wolf Celebration DOB: 12/08/12, 12.25", Smooth Coat PLL / SCA / DM / DILUTE / BAER / CERF Normal
"Confetti" was the first bitch born with our kennel name, and her life has indeed been a celebration! An absolutely beautiful and 'tidy' little bitch, we love her small balanced frame and bubbly nature. Confetti has never met a person or dog she didn't love and she's a fantastic small terrier who has been equally a fantastic producer! Confetti has done very well in the show ring, including a win at the JRTCA National Trial in the open division at 6 years old! Her true love is lure coursing, where she has excelled with multiple championships. She is the most fun little gal and passes her outstanding temperament to her offspring.
"Gaga" is a stunning, brilliant, and delightfully wacky individual (much like her namesake, Lady Gaga!) She is so beautifully balanced and athletic and passes those traits to her offspring. Gaga is extremely trainable, as are her offspring who share in her intense desire to work. She has modeled for Pet Edge and shares her grandmother Calypso's love for the limelight! Gaga has done very well in the show ring, including several championships & reserves. She is always up for anything and prefers to be with her people as much as possible, a trait passed down to her offspring.
